5 Ways That Can Help You to Become a Philippine Science Student

Source: theadventuresofsuperboink.blogspot.com

Pisay or the Philippine Science High School is the best high school in the Philippines and one of the best in the ASEAN region. Backed by the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology, it offers scholarships to those gifted Filipino students who are inclined in Science and Math. There is no doubt that this High School is one of the best in the region because annually this school takes part in Science, Math and Technology competitions locally and abroad.

Because of this feat, to no surprise many elementary graduates are enrolling into Philippine Science reviews to pursue their dream to become a part of this institution. Honestly, I’m envious of those students who are given the brains and the opportunity to be a part of PSHS because I’ve known some of its alumni and no doubt they are really intelligent.

Yes, I’m not kidding you guys because one of those two people I know just graduated Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science Major inChemistry, UP Diliman while the other one is probably the most intelligent classmates I’ve had. Though he did not graduated from UP(because he chose to study in the province) he graduated with honors too with a course of BS ECE.

There is no doubt that students in the PSHS campus are all bright “sabi nga nila walang tapon” because if they would transfer to other school, probably they would stand out from the rest.

If you want to be an alumnus of Pisay, then follow these tips:
Study Hard

To be eligible in taking the NCE, you should first be included in the top 10% of the graduating class. How can you achieve such accomplishment of performing well in school? By studying hard and smart! Even if you are the smartest pupil in class you cannot assure that you will be in the top10% without putting much effort into it. Be active in school. Participate in class recitations and school activities.

Time Management

As defined in the Wikipedia, time management is a process of having a conscious effort or control of your time to increase productivity or effectiveness.  When I was still in school, I always here my grandmother tell this line to me: “Don’t wait for tomorrow what you can do for today.” Sometimes, I get annoyed with her because of this but later on in life, I realize that actually she’s right. Because of that line, I always finished assignments and projects, reviewed for exams on time.

Priority & Commitment

“The starting point of all achievement is desire.”

-Napoleon Hill

Set your priorities and learn to commit. If you really want to succeed in life, set a goal for yourself and know the things needed to be done to achieve that goal. If you are to be in the Pisay, take in mind that you need to be focused and committed on your goal which is to pass first the entrance examination. So, focus and don’t let other vices distract you. Create a study schedule that can help you and do it consistently.

Faith

Be positive! If failure comes your way, do not be discouraged. Learn from it and make it as a stepping stone to success. As the saying goes, “just do your best and God will do the rest!”

Support from the Family

For a parent, no one would be happier in seeing their children to succeed in life. But for a son or daughter intelligent or not, what matters to them is the support of their parents. For a child who experienced being compared with my peers, I always feel the pressure on my shoulders that every mistake I made I would get disapproval from my grandparents. Feeling such gives me so much burden which leads to frustrations. Good thing that I have parents that always tap my back and remind me: “Anak, mag-aral ka lang. Gawin mo lang ang kaya mo. Nandito lang kami para sa’yo.

I hope these tips helped you! Keep on dreaming and believing in yourself! Rock on!
